Freemont Street Experience

/ 1995

The Freemont Street Experience stretches for four city blocks in downtown Las Vegas. When it opened it was an overnight sensation, fulfilling the intent of architect John Jerde by reversing the economic decline of ‘Glitter Gulch’, the original Las Vegas strip.

Conceived and designed by Railton, the giant overhead screen broke the parameters of street entertainment, creating a new synthesis of public art that has been duplicated in various forms and sparking the beginning of the LED digital age.

Railton’s original shows are still running and attract 24 million visitors a year.
